Meropi is a Montreal-born artist (1968) currently based in Montreal, Quebec. Her creative path reflects a life rich with curiosity and reinvention — balancing a career in administration, raising a family, returning to school for horticulture studies, and continually exploring visual arts through photography and fine-art courses at Dawson College and private workshops.

Her artistic journey began behind the lens and naturally evolved toward painting, where she translates memories, places, and emotions onto canvas.

 

Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, Meropi embraces experimentation and lifelong learning, drawing inspiration from fellow artists and mentors while steadily refining a style that blends observation with storytelling. More recently, she has expanded her practice to include cyanotype processes, incorporating photographic elements into her work.

 

Meropi’s paintings have been exhibited in Montreal and are held in private collections. Her subjects often explore historical and iconic landmarks from Montreal and abroad — reflecting her travels, her fascination with architecture and botanicals, and the human stories connected to place. While many works begin as personal reflections, collectors frequently discover their own memories within them. In one instance, a painting inspired by a trip to Italy moved a collector so deeply that they later travelled to the exact location depicted, seeking a personal connection to the image.
